Mp3'z: n (m p threez) c.1995 (abreviation for Mpeg 1 Layer 3)
1.An audio compression format, that enables near CD quality recordings, to be
compressed 12:1, enabling quick and easy digital distrubution. 2.A music file
in this format readily found on the internet.

With the advent of Mpeg Layer 1 technology, we are now able to make a complete digital copy of a CD. First, you get a CD ripper, a program that enables you to copy songs directly from a CD onto your hard disk drive, in Windows default wave (*.wav) format. Now, with with a wave file, you will get an undesirably large file (30 - 45 MB), so, you will want to compress it to an Mp3 file (3 - 5 MB) Next, with an encoder, you are able to encode the song from wave format to Mp3 format. Finally, with a Mp3 player, you are able to play the songs.

Now, if you don't want to bother with making your own Mp3'z and just want to download that song you can never find in the stores or the newest hit, then perform a search. You won't get the results you want from a web-based search engine (like Yahoo or Altavista) and will need a modified "Mp3 only" search engine.
